Mesotheliona Overview Page

There are many different forms of Cancer, but Mesotheliona is one of the ones that has the worst prognosis. It is almost always caused by a person's exposure to a substance called asbestos, which means that it is almost always a preventable cancer. When a person has Mesotheliona, malignant cells develop in an area of their body called the mesothelium, which is a lining that protects a person's internal organs. When the cancer develops in this lining, it affects the organs, and can spread to other parts of the body as well. Mesotheliona is found in many areas of the body, but is most often found in either the lining of the lungs, the pleura, the lining of the abdomen, the peritoneum, or the lining of the heart, the pericardium.

In the majority of cases, people who have developed Mesotheliona can trace their disease back to their own exposure to asbestos, which was at one time found in many different types of environments, such as heating and cooling systems, and building materials. The exposure comes from either inhaling the dust or the other particles of asbestos, but it can also come from being exposed to other types of asbestos. In some cases, a family member who has washed the clothes of someone who worked with asbestos can also develop the disease, if they ended up with enough exposure to the actual asbestos dust or fibers. There are lots of ways where a person can be exposed to the dust and the other particles, so it is important to remember that this exposure could have happened at any time. There is no relation between Mesotheliona and smoking, unlike lung cancer.

If a person has the right symptoms, they might see a doctor to have tests done that rule out the possibility of Mesotheliona. Some of the sympstoms include a shortness of breath, which comes from the space between the chest wall and the lungs being filled with fluid. Also, there is general pain in the chest ,and other symptoms like weight loss. If a doctor suspects that a person might have Mesotheliona, they will do a chest xray to see if there is a shadow on any part of the lung or if they can see any of the build up. A CT scan will also usually be done. The diagnosis is usually confirmed with a biopsy ,as well as a microscopic examination. Another way that biopsies are done is with a throascoscopy, which is a situation in which a tube is inserted into the body, with a small camera in it.

There are several treatments that can be done for Mesotheliona. First of all, the most aggressive and most common treatment is a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Sometimes, a patient will undergo surgery to remove as much of the Mesotheliona as they can. However, the biggest key to success is early detection ,so there is lots of research that is being done on how to diagnosis the Mesotheliona as soon as possible. This is because the survival rate of Mesotheliona patients is closely related to how soon the disease gets diagnosed.

There is also an issue that has to do with Mesotheliona and the law. Many times, asbestos exposure is something that could have been prevented, and sometimes it is something that the employer or company knew was not good for the workers at the time. Therefore, there are many times in which monetary compensation can be won by someone who has Mesotheliona or the family of someone who died from it. One of the biggest issues when it comes to Mesotheliona is often that the companies who exposed their employees to the asbestos were aware of the dangers, and if they were not aware of them, still did not have a good idea of what safe work practices were and might have done something that would cause there to be a problem with the way that the asbestos dust and fibers were handled. Therefore, it is often best to consult a lawyer when dealing with Mesotheliona, because most of the time, there is going to be a legal case that can be waged and won.
